A provincial Act respecting OHEA recognizes the right of individuals who have met the membership qualifications to use the designation Professional Home Economist (PHEc).This registered status provides for self-regulation of member home economists by their peers via an established code of ethics, rules of professional conduct and standards of practice. Any graduate of the Foods & Nutrition program at Brescia University College who has taken the Professional Perspectives course (HE 2222) qualifies for this professional designation. SHEA coordinates the Picture, Tea & Ring ceremony each Spring with the Faculty  Chair, where graduates are given the traditional gold ring to signify the profession.

LHEA

The London Home Economics Association is our local branch of OHEA. Many professors at Brescia are active members, including Dr. June Matthews, Mrs. Lucy Mahood and Professor Gladys Ylimaki. Each year SHEA hosts an event in collaboration with LHEA to promote networking among professionals and students.

LHEA Scholarship:
Every other year, LHEA will award one student for their involvement in Human Ecology in the amount of $350.
